Thank you for featuring my piece in Best of Substack! It means a lot to see my work alongside other amazing voices who are also shaping the way we talk about F1.
Writing about the fan experience — especially through the lens of Williams' current moment — has been such a joy, and I’m thrilled to know it resonated. Thanks again for the shoutout, and congrats on another great edition of Pit Lane Chronicle! ✨
Like your newsletter, has anyone thought of getting the fia to change the points system. Totally out of date were the winner gets 7 points more than no.2
Result is the winning team has more than 500 points year end.
Thanks very much for reading and for your message, Denis.
The points system is a tricky balancing act, isn’t it? Obviously, the winner of a race needs to be properly rewarded. But you make a good point – the current system allows a driver to build an unassailable lead from one single purple patch within a season.
Max Verstappen was uncatchable last year, despite spending a minority of the season with the fastest car and as the dominant driver. Not that I’m saying he didn’t deserve it! I think his Brazil win alone proved he did.
